The original painting is 11x14 inches acrylic paint, resin and ink on board. Lowell has made available 50 11x14 prints on bright archival matte paper. Raj used traditional analog photography methods to create these images. This allows him to slow down and appreciate beauty, he says, “in this fast paced world of imagery where instant gratification is encouraged”. Naturally drawn to the Himalayas, he has a deep relationship with the mountains and its people who have become his extended family. In his words, “When I am there, I am there; in the midst of the village people this self-fixation mind disappears and what remains is only them.”

Art for LO special edition Kali of Calcutta quality art print by Ms. Emily Avery Yoshiko Crow printed on archival matte paper. Ms. Emily Avery Yoshiko Crow is the first artist featured in our Art for LO series. She has contributed her Kali of Calcutta artwork in recognition of the volatility present in our world. Kali is a powerful goddess traditionally worshipped throughout Nepal and India. Her message is connected with harnessing the potential of challenge, volatility, and destruction for the benefit of humanity. In many spiritual traditions, she is a divine protector and object of prayer. Read more in the LO News.
Hibiscus Tea by Manuja Waldia printed on 100% cotton rag acid free archival paper with a bright finish and smooth texture
Hibiscus Tea is a painting celebrating the spirit of sharing. A central theme of Manuja’s artwork is women gathering together and uplifting each other. “I am enamored with creating safe spaces of camaraderie and sisterhood devoid of the male gaze. These are drawn from memory, photographs or imagined experiences I have shared with my family and friends or wish to manifest for us,” Manuja told us. Her work reflects the importance of empowering women to build a thriving community. As women and girls gain confidence, self-esteem, and initiative, they inspire change in their sisters, friends, families, and societies; cultural norms shift and communities are transformed.
We are delighted and moved to feature Manuja Waldia as our third Art for LO Artist. Manuja has generously dedicated the proceeds from these limited edition print orders to the girls and young women who are beneficiaries of LO programs in education, training, and care.
Art for LO brings community together around art that responds to the question, Why Girls?, in the spirit of reform, change, social justice, and environmental action.
