The bicycle saves my life every day, my bike is my freedom. I hope my ride can ensure the education of the girls in Cambodia, and lead them to freedom too.

Rob Lane has dedicated his annual cycling tour to raise funds for Lotus Outreach Australia (LOA) and join 1,000 Coffee Bike Ambassadors around the world! Rob’s ride will kick off the 1,000 Coffee event on April 19th. His 1,000 km ride from Lithgow near Sydney to Bairnsdale near Melbourne will take 12 days. LOA has coined his ride the Waratah Path, inspired by the native Australian Waratah Flower in bloom in the Blue Mountains, where his ride begins.

Rob believes in simplicity, sustainability, and fairness, and this is reflected in his love of permaculture, cycling, and a more equitable society. His ride will ensure LOA can maintain its commitment to the 108 girls in Cambodia, who are sponsored in the GATE (Girls Access To Education) scholarship program, even during challenging times.

At LOA, $35 AUD a month (less than two cups a week) or $420 AUD a year supports GATE scholars in years 7-12 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Rob aims to raise at least $10,000 AUD or $10 AUD per kilometer of his ride. $ 10,080 would enable 4 girls to study for 6 years and complete their high school education!

We are excited and grateful for his ride!

Monthly commitments and donations made from within Australia are dedicated to LOA-supported scholars and Rob’s 10K goal. All other contributions are dedicated to the general Scholarship Fund at Lotus Outreach.
